San Diego County News Center reported that James Hubbell, an iconic local sculptor and artist known for his distinctive style, passed away last Friday at the age of 92. Hubbell's work is prominently featured in various public spaces across San Diego, including several county libraries.

Hubbell’s artistic contributions extend beyond mere aesthetics, emphasizing community involvement, volunteerism, and education. His extensive portfolio includes mosaics, wrought iron railings and gates, stained glass installations, and sculptures. These works are present in numerous San Diego homes, churches, and public areas such as the Alpine, Del Mar, Fallbrook, Julian, and Ramona library branches.

"Art and beauty can bridge prejudices, build lasting friendships, change people’s visions of who they are and what is possible in life, and, in fact, change our myths," said James Hubbell.
