San Diego County News Center

The County aims to make behavioral healthcare more accessible to everyone. Crisis services are being offered throughout the region, enabling people to connect to care quickly within their communities.

Crisis Stabilization Units (CSUs) are currently available in six locations across the county. Each unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing immediate mental health support and treatment services for individuals facing a behavioral health crisis. CSUs can help reduce distress levels, prevent or treat a behavioral health crisis, and manage acute symptoms of mental health conditions for up to 23 hours.

A groundbreaking celebration will be held tomorrow in El Cajon for the construction of the County’s seventh crisis stabilization unit, which will directly serve East County communities. The new facility is expected to open in fall 2025.

Individuals needing immediate behavioral health support should call 9-1-1. Additional help is available by calling the County’s Access and Crisis Line at (888) 724-7240 or visiting www.Up2SD.org.
