Rep. Scott Peters, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 50th district, recently shared several statements via social media addressing key issues and events. Born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1958, Peters has been a member of Congress since 2013 after succeeding Brian Bilbray. He holds degrees from Duke University and New York University.

On November 21, 2024, Rep. Peters expressed his commitment to the transgender community in San Diego through a social media post marking Trans Day of Remembrance. He emphasized the importance of "leading by example" and pledged ongoing support as Vice Chair of the Equality Caucus to combat anti-trans violence. "It's more important than ever to lead by example and treat everyone with dignity and respect...To San Diego's transgender community: I'll always fight for you."

Later that day, he welcomed Rep-elect McBride to Congress, acknowledging her dedication to her constituents and Americans at large. Peters stated his admiration for her focus on significant matters affecting people across the nation. "Honored to welcome Rep-elect McBride to Congress."

In another post on November 21, 2024, Peters addressed housing affordability challenges in San Diego by announcing the formation of a bipartisan YIMBY Caucus alongside Reps Robert Garcia and Molinaro NY19. The initiative aims to promote pro-housing policies designed to reduce living costs in one of America's most expensive regions."San Diego is one of the most expensive places to live in the country & far too many in SD can't afford housing or are pushed into homelessness."
