Rep. Scott Peters, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 50th district since 2013, has recently expressed his views on several current issues through social media posts. Peters, who has a background in law with degrees from Duke University and New York University, resides in San Diego and was born in Springfield, Ohio.

On December 3, 2024, Rep. Scott Peters shared his thoughts regarding the pardon of Hunter Biden. He stated that he had "listened and thought a lot about the Hunter Biden pardon" and concluded that it was "the wrong thing to do." While expressing sympathy for a father believing his son was targeted by politically motivated prosecution, he acknowledged that many prosecutors have political motives but did not elaborate further. "I’ve listened and thought a lot about the Hunter Biden pardon. It was the wrong thing to do."

In another post dated December 5, 2024, Peters criticized an accounting maneuver related to tax cuts enacted during Donald Trump's presidency. He remarked that such tactics would not alter the outcome of increased national debt due to these tax cuts for large corporations and billionaires. He questioned the stance of self-proclaimed fiscal conservatives in light of this situation. "An accounting gimmick like this won’t change the fact that the Trump tax cuts for big corporations and billionaires will add trillions to the national debt."

Later on December 5, 2024, Peters addressed concerns raised over Thanksgiving about a proposed development project in Pacific Beach. The proposal involves constructing a 23-story tower on land technically exempt from coastal height restrictions by using various state law density incentives. This development has sparked considerable concern among local residents due to its potential impact on community aesthetics and infrastructure. "Over the Thanksgiving break, I heard a lot of concern about the proposed 23-story tower in Pacific Beach."
