On February 1, 2025, Rep. Peters shared a story about assisting Dan from University City in retrieving his father's Military Personnel File and medals awarded for service as a pilot during World War II. A member of Rep. Peters' staff was able to piece together records and secure seven medals from the National Archives for Dan. Dan expressed gratitude saying, "We had been searching for a long time but you were able to find the medals and their history!"
Earlier that day, Rep. Peters described this effort as "A heartfelt casework success!" emphasizing the dedication of his staff in achieving this outcome.
Later on February 1, 2025, Rep. Peters reflected on Black History Month, stating that it is an opportunity to recognize the significant contributions of Black Americans to the nation’s history. He urged continuous reflection and striving towards justice and equality by saying, "Black history is American history."
