Scott Peters, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California's 50th district, has expressed his views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. His comments reflect concerns about potential policy changes that could affect health care, food assistance programs, and federal employment.

On February 16, 2025, Peters highlighted opposition among Republican voters to cuts in Medicaid. He urged his Republican colleagues not to exacerbate the national debt by $4.5 trillion while reducing health care for those most in need. "74% of Republican voters oppose cuts to Medicaid. I urge my Republican colleagues not to add $4.5 trillion to the debt while cutting health care for constituents who need it most."

The following day, February 17, 2025, Peters addressed potential reductions in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid amidst tax cuts favoring the wealthy. He pointed out that SNAP offers modest daily food support and criticized proposed fiscal policies for potentially increasing national debt while benefiting affluent individuals primarily. "SNAP provides a modest $6 a day for food to families, people with disabilities, and workers in need... Republicans are considering significantly cutting SNAP and Medicaid while adding trillions to the debt by lowering taxes to primarily benefit the wealthy."

On February 18, 2025, Peters turned his attention to federal employment issues within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He criticized actions attributed to former President Trump regarding mass layoffs of FAA employees who play vital roles in maintaining air safety. "Now is not the time for mass layoffs of FAA employees who keep us safe in the air. Trump must stop firing critical, hardworking federal government employees."
