San Diego County Animal Services is offering a unique opportunity for those looking to adopt a pet this March. By spinning a Wheel o’ Fortune, potential adopters can determine their discounted adoption fee, which ranges from free to $17, excluding puppies and kittens. This initiative is available at both the South Shelter in Bonita and the North Shelter in Carlsbad.

Vaughn Maurice, County shelter director, expressed enthusiasm about the program: “In our opinion, the luck flows both ways with this deal. The person and the pet both gain an enduring friend.”

The shelters are open for walk-ins from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday. Adoption fees cover spaying or neutering, microchipping, updated vaccinations, and a one-year dog license for residents within the service area.

To adopt a pet, individuals need only present a photo identification card. Adoptions operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those not ready to adopt permanently, fostering is an option. It allows individuals to see if they are ready for pet ownership while providing animals with temporary homes away from the shelter environment. Supplies such as food and bedding are provided by the shelter.

The organization also welcomes foster families, volunteers, and donations of pet food. Interested parties can contact (619) 767-2675 or visit the Animal Services website for more information.

Potential adopters are encouraged to spin the wheel and find their new companion during this promotional event.
