Over 370,000 ballots are being distributed to registered voters in San Diego County's First Supervisorial District for the special primary election scheduled on April 8. Registered voters should expect their ballots during the week of March 10, with some possibly receiving them over the weekend. The ballot packet will include an "I Voted" sticker.

The elected candidate will fill a vacant seat for the remainder of the term ending in January 2029. If no candidate secures a majority vote on April 8, the top two candidates will proceed to a special general election on July 1. Only residents of District 1 are eligible to vote.

District 1 extends from the Pacific Ocean to the Otay and San Miguel mountains and includes areas such as Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City, and parts of San Diego like Barrio Logan and East Village. It also covers unincorporated areas like Bonita and La Presa.

Voters unsure about residing in District 1 can verify their status at sdvote.com. Early voting begins March 10 at the Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa, operating from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Voting by mail is encouraged for convenience.

Ballots can be returned via mail without postage or deposited at official drop boxes starting March 11 until April 8. Voters must sign and date their return envelopes for their votes to count. Ballot tracking is available through "Where’s My Ballot?".

In-person voting options start March 29 with seven vote centers opening daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., expanding to thirteen centers open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on April 8.

Information about nearby vote centers or drop boxes is available in voter information pamphlets or online using sdvote.com's tools.
