The San Diego Public Library recently announced that they are launching their annual Winter Reading Challenge for the entire month of January, according to a release by the City of San Diego.
The theme for this year’s challenge is “Books Like Us,” which raises awareness for diversity and stories of people around the world.
“During a time when we’ve all been asked to stay home, the Winter Reading Challenge is an opportunity for San Diegans to explore our diverse communities through books,” said Library Director Misty Jones. ”The program is also a chance for students to strengthen their reading skills and connect with new characters and stories.”
Participants can earn prizes for completing the challenge by reading five books or logging five hours of reading. Prizes include passes to San Diego’s Museum of Us, meal vouchers, fun puzzles and journals. The program is open to children and adults.
Visitors can register for the program and find the list of recommended books at The San Diego Public Library website.
