School’s out for summer, and the kids are already bored? The County Library offers a wide array of activities catering to grade schoolers, high school students, and even younger children. Adults will also find classes designed specifically for them.

The library's summer programs include musical performances, puppet and magic shows, puzzle time, a Lego Lab, a teen escape room, gaming sessions, teen henna art, kids’ bingo, chess and other board games, pastel chalk art, arts and crafts, t-shirt decorating for teens, among others. These are in addition to year-round programs such as yoga, Tai Chi, Mah-Jongg, tech classes, concerts, writing groups, book clubs, after-school activities and 3D printing. Children can practice their reading skills by reading to dogs.

Story time is available for babies through older children. There is even a dance-time story session for little ones. Not all branches offer every class; residents are encouraged to check what their nearest branch provides or visit another branch for specific programs.

Residents can visit the County Library’s website to choose a branch based on age range and type of event or program that appeals to them. Summer at Your Library programs run through August 31.

Additionally, the Summer Learning Program is available at all 33 branch locations. It aims to offset learning loss during summer break with activities designed especially for kids and teens. Participants can earn achievement badges for reading and other activities; collecting enough badges may result in winning prizes.

All classes and programs are free of charge. For those who prefer solitary activities or cannot attend group events due to scheduling conflicts or personal preference: free Wi-Fi and air conditioning are available at all branches along with desktop PCs for use. Visitors can also check out books, audiobooks and movies.

The County Library will be closed on the Fourth of July but will reopen on Friday. In the meantime, more than five million County Library customers download e-books, audiobooks and magazines using an Instant Digital Library card online.
