Rep. Scott Peters, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 50th district, shared a series of tweets on February 5 and 6, 2025. The tweets highlighted significant contributions by Black San Diegans and addressed concerns about government efficiency and transparency.

In a tweet posted on February 5, Rep. Peters emphasized the importance of Black History Month by acknowledging notable figures from San Diego's past and present. He stated, "This Black History Month, I’m highlighting Black San Diegans from the past and present to share their stories of courage, resilience, and trailblazing leadership. Dr. Reavis’ contributions made our community and country a better place. We must remember and uplift his example."

On the same day, Rep. Peters provided more details about Dr. Carrel Reavis' achievements in another tweet. He noted that "Dr. Carrel Reavis served among the first Black men in the US Marine Corps and was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal in 2012." Furthermore, he mentioned Dr. Reavis' role in co-founding San Diego's MLK Parade and his long-standing ownership of a barber shop in Logan Heights.

The following day, February 6, Rep. Peters expressed concerns regarding government operations under Elon Musk's influence through another tweet: "Our government should cut waste and be more efficient. However, that process must be transparent and allow citizens to weigh in." He criticized Musk for allegedly dismissing government officials obstructing his access to social security information.
